She is the ex-fiance' of NFL Jim Brown of the Cleveland Browns and the great great granddaughter of the Founder of Alabama A&M University and the great granddaughter of that same University. To which Debra's second book "Not Your Normal Family of Normal Alabama" is based on. She is also the owner of "Kat's Meow Publishing LLC". Debra also lectures on both books topics, Domestic Violence and the history of her family.
